Collier County (Naples) has amazing nature, natural beauty, pristine beaches and friendly people. Clam Pass Park, Corkscrew Sanctuary, The Conservancy of SW Florida, The Naples Zoo and Botanical Gardens are all education oriented and will help you appreciate the rich bio-diversity that Florida has to offer. Volunteering is a way to meet people. Summers are warm but they offer quiet and calmness that is hard to find in a busy, crowded world. If you find restaurants here to be expensive, many find a work around by going to half-price happy hours that offer a good selection of appetizers. Taking walks here is the best exercise and very calming in the numerous green spaces like Clam Pass Boardwalk or Corkscrew. The simple pleasures are the best. Breathing fresh air, swimming not far from some dolphins and watching the birds arrive at sunset at 10,000 Islands National Reserve allow one to feel more connected to life and the natural order.

The job market is very limited in a town that doesn't have an airport or a commercial port, no industry. Homes are more pricey than miami or tampa. Restaurants aren't for normal people. You have to be very rich or poor, which serves rich. Nothing on the middle.

My husband worked construction on the mansions in Naples for 25 yrs. Had his own business. We moved back up north in 2006 where we are from. To many people, and horrible traffic, especially when snowbirds came down!

NAPLES FL has become too crowded and expensive and I mean expensive. I’ve been here 22 years and there’s a condo going up on every block and street and in a couple years traffic is only going to be ridiculous. If you have a condo, the HOA fees have exploded, if you rent the rent is horrific, if you buy a house, the insurance and property taxes are out of sight so it’s only becoming a place for the millionaire billionaire club.

As a hard working hands on tradesman, South Coast England landlord who comes round straight after a phone call {yes tenants have my home number] to fix a problem. These monied " passive income" hands off people who '' acquire property assets" like the Canadians are a pain. Been in SWFL for 25 years + If you are not ALREADY RICH - or if you DO NOT HAVE MD JD DDS behind your name - you will pay most of your income in rent alone. AND - there is real estate - tourism and that's about it. Meaning NO actual jobs that pay well for middle class people. This is the beach that I usually go to when I visit my dad. Underrated aspect is walking to the bathroom in some areas you go through a nice peaceful light forest path just behind the sand, still able to view the beach. Probably the most pleasant walk to a bathroom in my life, especially when you spot a tortoise making its way down the path as well.

Moved to Naples from NJ 5 years ago and LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!! The weather, the food, the people, the clean and beautiful streets, the beaches and the beautiful skies and sunsets...I have to STILL pinch myself! It is TRULY PARADISE!

It would be interesting to hear about cost for living in Naples or any other part of the west coast of Florida? Even if I pay cash for a house or condo, there are costs for insurance, property tax and probably other things I'm not even aware of? We live in Sweden and visit SW FL yearly. We are seriously considering buy something in FL but we have a hard time understanding actual costs for owning?
